I write an article before about all cost spend on RO filter whole life cycle, if you not read it, can click link to check!
https://www.xbymc.com/reverse-osmosis-membrane/91.html
In that article, I talk about home water purifier, the RO filter change cycle basic follow factory rule, three years one time.
For family use scene, place like Shanghai, feed water conductivity only 200 to 300. Even the salt remove rate drop to 70% or 80%, drinking this water still no big problem.
Today we use this topic, chat about industrial RO filter service time.
I remember year 2019, I visit a big state-owned power plant in China. Their water treatment engineer told me, first batch Dow RO membrane they use full 12 years. Dow send staff take all old membrane back to test, want find why it can work so long.
For big industrial machine, full RO system have many pre-treatment steps, normal like sand filter, carbon filter, security filter before enter RO membrane. Some factory add water softener, biochemistry and physical treatment before pre-filter too.
If pre-treatment do well, normal RO filter can use around three years. Service time direct link with raw water quality. For landfill leachate industry, one year already very good. But if raw water clean, use over five year is common thing.
Make simple summary: home RO filter change every three years; industrial or small commercial RO system, with good pre-treatment, 3 to 5 years is normal use time.
Alright! If you run RO system now, welcome leave comment tell us how long your last RO membrane work before replace.
